    Description

For offer: a PAIR LOT of South Philadelphia PA blob / Champagne beer bottles. William J. Crossan & Joseph Baranzano. Both were blown in clear (decolorized) glass batch into two-part molds and finished with hand-tooled blob lips in the 1890's era. The William J. Crossan is a priavte mold embossed diagonal up the body of the bottle in a script font. Embossed with the address: 520 So. 18th St. The Jos. Baranzano is a 10-sided slug-plate mold embossed with the address: 811 Fitzwater St. across the three-sided slug. The mold code embossed on the base is either " 16 " or "61 ", hard to say as it appears to be in reverse. See the images. They were both recovered in privy excavations in the last year. Both bottles are in good condition with no damage. Both show light use and ground wear. Some light patchy haze. The Baranzano has a small sliver chip in the inside edge of the lip, likely a result of an ice pick pry in the day. (See images) The Crosson measures: 8 7/8" x 2 11/16". The Baranzano measures: 9" x 2 5/8".
